I am very pleased to kick this week off with our second installation, in 2012, of Africa Music Law™’s Artist of the Week.

This young woman has been very impressive to watch. Entering a male dominated music industry and a music genre (rap) equally dominated with males, she has grabbed the industry by the balls and insisted on carving a respected position for women in the industry.

She has done this with finesse, at times she has done it directly in the face of the industry but always with a great style sense and an overall fun disposition. Indeed, in the process of doing so, industry heads and the public at large have she has snagged awards and nomination(s) and continues to gain recognition across Africa. Her accolades/recognition include:

1) ‘Owo ati Swagger’ remix – Best Collaboration in A Video’ award at the SMVAs 2009; and

2)  Nominee ‘Best Rap Act’ – 2011 Nigerian Entertainment Awards alongside 2010 BET Nominee for Best International Act M.I Abaga, Rappers Ruggedman, NaetoC and Iceprince;

3) 2011 ’Female Artist of the year in Rap’ – Exquisite Lady of the Year Awards;

In addition to the above, this young lady  featured in the 2011 edition of the BET Hiphop Awards Nigerian Cypher.

When she is not busy creating music that stands toe to toe with the men in her genre, you can find her beautifying the faces of women as she is also a fashion entrepreneur with her own cosmetic line; and a stylist too. She styles herself and has created the signature look and brand that is uniquely hers. Added to the mix is a woman who is wicked with words both as a blogger and writer for numerous publications.

I speak of none other than the one and only Ms. Eva Alordiah.

I look forward to more of what Eva has to offer to Nigeria and Africa’s music industry as she continues to evolve musically and soar. In the meantime, EVA, you are my Africa Music Law™ Artist of the Week. It is indeed MAJOR so clap for yourself. *kpakpakpakpa* BIG SMILE.
