Nollywood Actress Bose Akanmu’s Ex-Boyfriend Pure Evil Revenge Porn: @Naourown @godaddy Please TAKE DOWN THE ILLEGALLY PUBLISHED Sex Video

There are some stories you come across, the act is so evil, words fail you. This story is one.

The Facts
In 2007, Nollywood actress Bose Akanmu dated a man that is now an ex-boyfriend. During their dating period they were sexually active. At least on one occasion, he recorded their explicit sexual activity. Fast forward to 2013, Akanmu moved on with her life and presumably ex-boyfriend had done the same. But,not so fast. An alleged three days prior to her wedding, the ex publishes the video by a website called Naourown.com. (The soon-to be husband allegedly called off the wedding after becoming aware of the video). On November 28th, 2013 post the release of the video, Akanmu responded on her twitter page with the following:

“Who else I’m I meant to have sex with, he wasn’t anybody random.. He used to be my BF”

Indeed. To say that the publishing of this video is pure evil is an understatement.

Let me make it unequivocally clear. A woman has an absolute right to enjoy sex with her boyfriend in the privacy of her place or his place and not fear exposure of such private intimacy with the world. When such relationship ends, no man has the right to reveal the private intimate details shared whether it be video, pictures, texts, emails to the world.

To do so is pure evil, criminal and is also an invasion of that woman’s privacy.

If such violations happen, then I say such woman/women declare war and they don’t stop in getting vindication, through the legal justice system, until that man is arrested and prosecuted; and also civil charges are filed against him. In the USA, in many states now, it is a misdemeanor to do what this man has done.

Finally, such woman/women should not feel humiliated or shamed, although that is the intention, but should feel empowered.

Now let’s get to the remedy here.

1. KING JESSE EFFA (REGISTERED OWNER) OF NAOUROWN.COM, SHAME ON YOU! YOU NEED TO TAKE THIS ILLEGALLY OBTAINED AND PUBLISHED VIDEO DOWN!

This video has no news value, it is meant to shame this woman for an act that is not criminal and was done in the privacy of her bedroom with her ex-boyfriend.

Your act has exposed this African woman in Africa to ridicule, attempted to shame and disgrace her and is a crime.

Also, your terms of service say both criminally obtained content and content that invades one’s privacy is prohibited on your website. Why are you violating your own terms? TAKE IT DOWN, NOW!

2. GODADDY REPRESENTATIVES, YOU NEED TO TAKE THE ILLEGALLY PUBLISHED VIDEO OF THIS WOMAN DOWN!

In case the Nigerian owned site fails to comply, that is where YOU come in. I expect you a USA owned and Arizona based business to comply with US laws.

The persons involved here are Nigerians in Nigeria. The ex-boyfriend through Naourown.com however, is using your platform to commit this criminal act. Please find below information evidencing that the idiot that runs Naourown.com is registered with your company.

(UPDATE: THE LINK INITIALLY REMOVED BY NAOUROWN.COM HAS BEEN REINSTATED. I WILL CONTINUE WORKING ON THE BACK END WITH GODADDY TO SEE THESE LINKS REMOVED FROM THAT SITE. I HAVE ALSO DELETED THE REFERRING LINK AS IT IS HIGHLY OFFENSIVE AND THE ISSUE IS YET TO BE RESOLVED, COMPLETELY BY NAOUROWN.COM.)

(UPDATE: FROM GO DADDY.  I will make the contact but Bose Akanmu I also encourage you as the affected party to contact them directly as well.)

@UDUAKLAW Appreciate you bringing up this concern. However, you’ll want to contact [email protected] so that this matter can be addressed.

@UDUAKLAW I’d also recommend sending a message to [email protected] as they appear to be the content provider for this domain. ^CG)

3. BOSE AKANMU YOU NEED TO DEMAND GODADDY, NAOUROWN.COM, DATAFILEHOST AND ANY AND ALL PERSONS WITH THIS VIDEO TAKE IT DOWN.

If Godaddy, datafilehost,  and the rest fail to do so, you should contact an attorney and ask for legal assistance to make them take it down, ASAP.  No one should have to put up with this, ever. I am also providing information below on how you deal with situations like these in future should it ever happen to you, whether it be video, photos, texts, emails or what have you. Also, while Nigeria can be rather backward especially where its criminal laws and prosecutions are concerned, you should still attempt to file a police report against your ex-boyfriend and ask for investigations and prosecution. You should reveal his identity so any idiot thinking to do this to hurt other women in future, will think twice.

P.s: Data file host can also be contacted at ([email protected]).

4. DATA FILE HOST REPRESENTATIVES, YOU NEED TO TAKE THE ILLEGALLY PUBLISHED VIDEO DOWN!

The video has been uploaded on the DATA FILE HOST server, has now been downloaded over 200,000 times and needs to be taken down ASAP.

Again, this woman did nothing wrong here and NO ONE has a right to damage her image, reputation and life based on the pure evil act of an ex-boyfriend who clearly has a hard time moving on; and with the fact that she has  found happiness. Her children should never have to see this. Your platform is being used to share this despicable, evil and criminal act. Please take it down ASAP as it violates even your own explicit policy and terms of use.

(UPDATE FROM DATAFILEHOST 12/8/2013:

(Data File Host The files have been taken down. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

5. CHINEDUM OKERENGWOR OF 36DAILY, WILD WEST DOMAINS AND 9JAHOSTER,COM YOU ALSO NEED TO TAKE THIS VIDEO DOWN, NOW!

INFORMATION ON HOW TO TAKE DOWN SITES WITH ILLEGALLY PUBLISHED MATERIALS

How do you take down Sites with Illegally Published Materials?

Step 1
Log on to http://whois.domaintools.com/. On that site, identify two key things: 1) the name of the host company e.g. bluehost.com, hostgator, godaddy.com etc. 2) identify the administrator’s email. You should also see the full listed mailing address of the owner of the site, not all owners list it.

Step 2
Contact the host. Let the host know the website owner(s) have violated the host rules on how the site is to be used. How do you know this? In the West, all hosting companies and frankly websites should and do have a terms and conditions that website users including  publishers and bloggers “click to accept” to use their services. It is located on the bottom on the host webpage or you can google it. They typically have language that says you can’t use their site to injure people in this “tortious” manner. Doing so opens the website owners to liability from the host and persons injured as a result of the website owners’ actions.

NOTE: Companies like Godaddy, hostgator etc. have money. We trial lawyers call them “deep pocket defendants.” If they have notice and do not do something about it, then they are a party to a lawsuit and of course bad publicity. Unlike Nigerian companies on the ground in Nigeria, Western companies never want to be sued much less be around bad media publicity on their services. Typically, most hosting companies will remove or disable the information you claim is unauthorized anywhere from 24hrs to 1week. In a matter I handled, it was removed in less than 24hours. In addition, the hosting companies will send a warning to the the offending site owner(s) to take down the aggriegious content or at a minimal show why their site should not be suspended or else face it being “shut down.” That needless to say is your ultimate goal.

Step 3
Task #1 completed, now on to the next big task, getting the information removed from GOOGLE. Google is the giant of search engines. Like the host companies, they have even “deeper pockets.” Trial lawyers like myself will tell you everyone wants to sue google. Google and their lawyers know it and do not want the drama.

Contact Google and your goal here is to have Google remove the website from its search engine so that the information does not appear in google search results. Just doing that alone is huge success. When you contact google, let them know your privacy has been invaded and if applicable, your copyright infringed, especially in instances where your images might be published and used to accompany the story. Google typically responds fast! See Google’ step by step process on how to get this done here.

Step 4

When all Else Fails, Get a Lawyer
Assuming the blogger/website, host company and google do not respond, get a USA based lawyer. For Nigerian celebrities in this situation, you are not limited to fighting the situation alone on the ground in Nigeria. Also, while you work on doing the press releases, putting positive information about you on your social media sites , you can hire a USA  lawyer to help remove these illegally published content online about you.

To say I am deeply vexed at this criminal act perpetrated on this woman is an understatement.

This video has been out for years. Didn’t the husband know of it before now.

    Hi Uduak ,

Thanks for this .It is unfortunate nothing is criminal in Nigeria

  3. Hi miss Uduak, my name is Clara Awolabi from Naourown.. I was brought to the notice of your write up above in which you referred to my boss as an idiot.

Well, if you notice you would discover that naourown is a social networking site where every registered member has the ability to post and create content as they deem fit.

My boss did not post the video in question, someone else in the team did and also he didn’t get to see the video until yesterday at which point it has amassed more than 120,000 views and was already too late.

Even as the video remained standing, we have commenced investigations to uncover who the culprit is and have succeeded in doing so as a member of the site posted this >>> (Link Omitted by Uduak Oduok/AML)

Well Mrs Uduak, it is very wrong to call my boss names and accuse our site of conspiring to frame Miss Bose which is so not true. I advice you take the down the part of this post where you insult and call my boss names cause we won’t tolerate that from you or anyone else.

We didn’t make the video, We didn’t record it and neither did He post it.

    Nonsense!!

    1. Dear Clara,

      Thank you for your comment.

First, I am glad to see you all have taken the link down. Bravo.

Second, you do have a point. It is important to separate the act from the individual, although both are not mutually exclusive and I am unsure it is applicable here.

Third, note I deleted the link you shared identifying the name of the alleged ex-boyfriend of Bose Akanmu who others say is responsible for sharing the information through "someone else in the team" as you put it, on your platform naourown.com. This is because the victim, Bose, is yet to identify the ex. The police is yet to conduct any investigations to verify a positive identification of this man. Accordingly, those statements you share in a link in your comment, on my platform, are hearsay and if they turn out to be untrue, constitute libel and defamation. I am uninterested in potentially dragging a potentially innocent man into this already terrible set of facts.

As to the actions of your boss, I stand firm in my position that his acts or as you have just informed us, non-action, with all due respect, is not only idiotic but grossly negligent and criminal. Running a social networking site does not absolve the owner of the site from liability; especially where the site clearly indicates the civil and criminal liability was perpetrated by the team of the owner of the site, as you have even further confirmed/ and corroborated in your statements.

Also, if we are to believe the AML commenter who claims the video has been up for quite some time now, then it is purely and extremely outrageous and your boss is lucky he is not facing criminal charges; and all he has to worry about is my opinion about his actions or lack thereof.

Clara, I think you should have obtained permission from your boss on whether he wanted you to speak in behalf of the company and him, before providing incriminating statements such as these. Your statements, and the actions of the team member you mention, could make your boss vicariously liable for the publishing of the private video of Bose Akanmu.

Ms. Akanmu's person, name, voice, and image was violated. She has been terribly shamed and humiliated; and as you state, your readers have viewed the video over 120,000 times on your website. Your boss's action or lack thereof supported by your own statements show he could potentially be held liable.

Again, he is lucky, very lucky.

By the way, an AML reader shared the story below that underscores the gravity of the acts/inaction your boss was engaged in. Note that the online publisher i.e. the owner of the site is arrested for the revenge porn content on his website. I suggest your boss rethinks how he operates his site, and also provide the requisite training and supervision for his employees, especially if they post a video such as the one they did of this woman and then tag it "By NaOurown team"

      Thanks again for your comment.

    Nigerians! TSK. No moral compass

  5. Eljazz says:

    Uduak,

I understand how angry you may feel. However, If u really referred to the lady’s boss as an idiot, I think you should apologise for using foul language. I consider it unnecessary &don’t think you’d make such comments event in a court of law; it’s unethical….opinions are sacred and you’re not the law. Let’s correct ourselves the right way and not take out our anger through the wrong route while getting justice for those who deserve it. This is my humble opinion.

Everyone should also learn the lessons available.

    1) I don’t see why the groom should have called-off the wedding…it’s not like he could deny every sleeping with her…neither would he claim that he believed she was a virgin before they became enthrothed.

    2) What is the essence of keeping records of acts that are sacred/private/shameful (in whatever case) when the only thing it would bring is shame if leaked to as much as one person? Funnily, as I’ve learnt the guy’s face wasn’t visible, depicting that he knew wot he was doing and had plans, even as at then!

    3) Mr Ex-Lover, your actions only prove three things; *that you actually didn’t love and respect the lady in the 1st place, *that you were not mature enough to handle a break-up, *that you’re not really a fan of progress- whatever else you intended isn’t clear at all and not established

    4) All ladies should start being wise before jumping into any man’s arms (let alone, his bed). Know the kind of person you claim to love and love properly…I wonder why u broke up in d 1st place, afterall, true love never dies-in other words, u probably were wrong in the 1st place. What you did (premarital sex) may not be wrong if you’re not a Christian, but would be (obviously) risky if you weren’t ‘sure’! And to consent to the recording may have implied that you wouldn’t have been surprised by the outcome!

  6. What was she thinking when she agreed with the guy to record the sex act in the first place?

Ladies (including the legally married ones) should not for any reason agree with any man to record videos or take pictures of them during sex or of their nakedness because it may boomerang. I was at a friend's computer shop one day when he was repairing a laptop of a client. Lo and behold on the system was explicit sex pictures of the man and wife at different locations within and outside the country. Now should my friend had any sinister motive, what do you think would have happened?

While I am not and will never support the act of publishing this kind of material for revenge purpose, we should also be careful about our public and private conduct. You never can tell what may happen in the future.
