AML Artist of the Week: Ba’Ponga – @Bapongasimba Making Hip-hop Music Despite the Odds in Gabon

AML Industry, artists, welcome to a new week, officially. Raise your hands if you are about your music hustle this Monday? Great! I wish you all a healthy and productive week ahead. To jump start our week, let me introduce you all to my AML artist of the week. He goes by the name Ba’Ponga. Out of Gabon, this young man is the leading face of hip-hop music for an entire country. Despite his accomplishments and popularity as the leading hip-hop act out of Gabon, he does not make his money off his music. According to him. he still has to hold down a day time job to make ends meet.

In Nigeria and Ghana, we hear many complaints from artists on the challenges of making music and making a living off music. Those challenges indeed do exists but wow! Are you all way ahead of the game or what? AML Nigerian and Ghanaian top artists actually make a living off their music. In Gabon, it is simply not that kind of party.

Folks, this is a friendly reminder to gain perspective, if you don’t already have one.

Watch some videos of his musical works, watch his feature on CNN and be inspired! AML artists think about reaching out to some of your colleagues, especially the leading artists in places like Gabon, for collabos.
