Davido’s New York Concert Shut Down
Davido who is currently on his US/Canada tour 2014 had his first show shut down on March 28th. The concert which held at Pulse 48 Nightclub in New York was shut down by the New York Police Department (NYPD) due to overbooking, leading to safety concerns.

The concert caused a shut down of 2 blocks in Brooklyn, NY and this forced the police to intervene and shut down the concert. Davido has since then taken to his twitter account to tweet that the shut down by NYPD was as a result of the ‘Love of his fans’.

Meanwhile, fans who went for the show lashed out on social media that it was badly planned and too crowded.

My thoughts on this? I believe Davido has passed the “Upcoming Artist” stage where you go about performing in Nightclubs all in the name of an ‘international gig’. I mean how do you say you are on a tour and then perform in a nightclub for your fans and what’s more, you promote the show like it’s taking place in a stadium or an auditorium and get fans fired up.

Since this was the first show, let’s hope his team has learnt form it.

Check out his apology after you see highlights from the show.

New Video From 2Face Idibia ‘Dance in the Rain’

Innocent Ujah Idibia popularly known as 2Face Idibia is no doubt one of the best musicians in not just Nigeria but in Africa and I’m sure a lot of our AML readers get excited when he releases something new.
The multiple award winning artist drops a brand new video directed by Luke Biggins for a song off his ‘Away and Beyond’ album, titled ‘Dance in The Rain.’

The simplicity of the video is amazing for such a beautiful song. Enjoy!

Billboard Teams Up With Twitter To Give Music Lovers, ‘Twitter Real-Time Charts’

Twitter
Music Company, Billboard has announced a partnership with Social media company, Twitter to create the ‘Billboard Twitter Real-Time Chart’. The chart which will be launched in the coming weeks will be used to track US music conversations among the millions of tweets that are sent each day.

The chart will combine the authority of Billboard charts and twitter’s public real time data. Twitter’s head of music, Bob Moczydlowsky in a statement said; “twitter is where the music of the moment is discovered and discussed — every day, new songs and new artists are breaking on the platform .We’re partnering with Billboard to create a ground-breaking chart to track the conversation around music as it happens. This means when artists share songs and engage with their audience on Twitter, the buzz they create will now be visible to fans, other musicians and industry decision makers in real-time.”

Both companies hope this partnership will reshape for consumers and the industry, the way music success is measured. I think this is a great partnership and is definitely a platform for upcoming artists . . . I can’t wait to see how this turns out.
