Hey AML people, AML artists, get in here! It’s Sunday and while there is already so much to talk about this New Year, I figure we should just chill a bit more before we really begin what I know will be a fantastic year!!
It’s been a while we kicked it in the AML lounge. Grab a seat. Let’s enjoy this new pilot on FOX television called ‘EMPIRE’ starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson. It’s a television series that centers around the music business and there is so much of today’s modern music industry issues throughout the pilot. You all know I love solid business negotiations and of course a whole healthy servings of law. In this series, you see the music business operating, they even had to pull in the whole digital music revolution and how it is allegedly destroying the music business, business law, securities law, music law, criminal law, and of course intertwine these tough concepts around the personal lives of these key characters who struggle for acceptance, self-love, experience loyalty, betrayal and so much more. It is a clever script with a strong production and strong cast.
By the way, when you watch the pilot, notice Terrence Howard’s character gets into a contract with Taraji P. Henson not to ever reveal that she was the initial source of the necessary capital in his record label. Is that contract valid? Why or why not?
*Hits the play button, dims light.* *Somebody pass the popcorn over here! Y’all notice one of our Rotimi in it?*
“A powerful new drama that follows the head of a music empire whose three sons vie for his throne.” -Fox
