Nigerian pop singer Dammy Krane is out on bail after spending five days in a Miami jail as a result of an arrest for theft and fraud charges. The singer has now released a statement through popular music website NotJustOK.com denying the fraud part of his charges.
“First of all I want to thank God and I want to use this medium to apologize to my family, my team and my fans,” said Krane.
“You know I was arrested by the Miami PD for fraud. I do not do fraud and I do not partake in such activities it just happens to be that the agent just booked my flight with fraudulent cards. My life is all about my music and that is all I’m about.I am sorry I got caught up in this mess. I assure all my fans it will never happen again.” I want to thank everyone who stood by me in this period. May God continue to bless you and protect you all. Amin,” he added.
“And to my parents, I want to thank you for your undying love. Please keep supporting me. I have more music on the way. I promise I will make you proud. I love you so much. Thank you very much. Hold strong,” he concluded.
While he denies the fraud charges in his statement, his statement is not complete as it did not address the theft charges. Also, it is interesting he uses “agent.” It appears his co-defendant is a booking agent rather than the alleged promoter he was said to be. This is interesting as it suggests he had an even closer relationship. What Dammy Krane will have to deal with is why he was allegedly carrying four credit cards in someone else’s name, a William Payton III, in his pant pocket.
We will be following this case closely. Krane returns on June 23, 2017, to court for an arraignment.
