D’Banj Allegedly Paid $40,000 to Appear as Kenya Moore’s Boyfriend on The Real Housewives of Atlanta

We delve into the world of reality television and reality contracts with the latest news by Media Takeout (founded by an African by the way), that D’Banj will appear on the Real Housewives of Atlanta as Kenya Moore’s Boyfriend. The appearance is based on a reality contract allegedly entered into by both. However, the reporting sounds dubious at best because there are many other legal issues that come into play where talents and reality tv shows are concerned. So I doubt Bravo TV Network would just have Kenya Moore subcontracting with D’Banj considering D’Banj is a personality, albeit based in Africa.

Several agreements would come into play including the talent(D’Banj)-producer agreement and the talent (D’Banj), producer and network agreement. Bravo will need to secure many comprehensive rights from D’Banj including the right of publicity, IP rights and so much more.

Indeed, today, D’Banj and Kenya Moore have made mockery of the news on twitter.

Nevertheless, let’s see how far this news goes and if indeed D’Banj shows up on the show. It is not a bad idea, I suppose, for our African artists to consider different means to enter into America’s entertainment industry rather than just strictly music. If fashion, film or tv works for you, by all means exercise that option but be very protective of your brand name.

D’Banj’s brand image over the years has been diluted from a very polished brand to one involving many instances of “ghettoishness,” for lack of a better word. I am not sure appearing on a show like RHOA helps him at all, on the contrary.

Nevertheless, if that happens, we can get into  further discussions. Until then, read the media out take story.

D'Banj Kenya Moore

“MediaTakeOut.com just received some extra steaming hot tea surrounding Kenya, and the upcoming Real Housewives reality show.

We spoke exclusively to a Bravo insider that told us that Bravo has just set up taping for the reunion everyone is scheduled to attend, each lady and their husband.

And we’re told that while Porsha does not have a guest/husband, Kenya Moores will be bringing a guest. Word is she wants to help secure her spot for another season so she has in fact hired an African prince.
According to another person close to Kenya, she has contracted to bring in Nigerian singer D’Banj to the reunion. And by “contracted” we mean a business deal . . . she has hired him to pretend to be her boyfriend. D’Banj is a popular singer in Nigeria, and he and Kenya have done appearances together before – but they are not in any kind of relationship . . . and he did not buy her any type of car.

According to our sources, Kenya promised D’Banj $40K, plus promotion, to LIE on TV and pretend to be her boyfriend. She even arranged it all through D’Banj’s BOOKING AGENT . . . they got PAPERWORK and everything.

Now that this is out there . . . we WONDER what NeNe is going to do with this LITTLE BIT of information when she CONFRONTS KENYA at the reunion show . . . LOLZ!!! We can’t WAIT to see it all unfold!!!”
