Hip-hop World Magazine claims it has confirmed the ongoing rumors and that Wande has indeed left Don Jazzy’s Mavin Records. For us here at AML, it should really be no big deal/an anti-climatic news. I, from the onset, have felt and said Wande Coal needs to pave his own way. He almost seemed very timid and content with hiding in the shadows of others. I just felt he needed to find his voice and let it shine given his very unique talent.
I am glad he is doing his thing and from a business perspective, I do not think leaving Mavin Records on paper precludes working with the label or Don Jazzy on other music projects.
“The speculations have been buzzing for weeks after Wande Coal released his ‘Kilaju’ song with ‘BLACK DIAMOND ENT’ on the artwork and the Don Jazzyowned Mavin Records‘s logo was missing. He is reportedly dissatisfied with the way he was being treated as his sophomore album hasn’t been released by Mavin Records after his debut album four years ago. Instead, D’prince and Tiwa Savage have had albums out and Wizkid/Davido whom he mentored are bigger than him presently . . .”
