The Multiple Award winning Group and Hip Hop Impresario G.A.2.R are back with another revolutionary music video off their “DA STREETZ” Cd, the first half of the HIT ME WITH 16 Album.
This ground breaking music video titled “SHIBI ILEMI” is scheduled for release on January 15th 2014 and was produced , cut & directed by Paper Boy Concepts, off the stables of Golden Eye Films, a subsidiary of Yaddah Entertainment.
In an interview with K.U.D – MC who also heads the creative arm of Yaddah Entertainment, he explained that this will be the 4th video off the Album with another 2 to be released within the first half of next year.
GA2R recently returned from New York City where they just concluded filming for their 5th video titled “Motile” ‘ while pre production work is already in process for what is said to be the most revolutionary music video in Nigerian entertainment for the song – “The King”.
The song “Shibi Ilemi” is an adaptation of a traditional Yoruba folk song and was produced by Ahmed “Evergreen” Ibrahim. The infusion of folk music with a contemporary beat and hip hop vocals are the key ingredients that makes the song catchy to listen to , while the video provides great entertainment, leaving you fixated from the beginning to the very end. You are guaranteed to watch it over and over again.
A captivating video with excerpts from 1956 video archives of pre-independent Nigeria , combined with scenes from the slums of Langbasa in Ajah community of Lagos . The video is cleverly intertwined with seemingly out of place but yet deliberate scenes of downtown Washington, D.C, where the rap verses are delivered with the city scape in the background.
The music video provokes thought on global perception , while asking the question on our “progress” (or otherwise) as a nation , post – independence.
It’s safe to say that GA2R has done it again with another captivating performance for Shibi Ilemi – the music video , which is one to look out for.
