Nigeria’s Ice Prince is on his branding and promotions game.I like the fire that finally lit within him and it is good to see him push. Ice recently teamed up with Bad Boy Records/Maybach’s French Montana for his latest song ‘I Sweear.’ In my view, the song is a’ight. Nothing to write home about. However, again, I respect the hunger and hustle Ice Prince has been on. I can’t knock the hustle, not at all.
In another news, French Montana recently granted an interview to Canada’s Nardwuar; and he essentially says being lyrical wasn’t getting the bills paid. He had to crossover and do what he had to do to earn a living from his craft. Needless to say, the reality of many artists.
“A lot of people don’t know when I came up, I came up battling,” French revealed in an interview. “I came up as just a regular rapper. I have the same history as everybody had. I grew up studying bars. It wasn’t nothing for me to go bar-for-bar, get lyrical, this and that. But I couldn’t make money being lyrical so when I threw my swag with the mix, the money started coming in. So I said, ‘Guess what? I’ma do this but I can get there if it really have to be there. It’ll just take me a day to write 16 bars’ and every word you heard is gonna be ‘Whoo. Whoo. Whoo.’ You know?”

These collabos can use better contractual terms and negotiations to give more leverage to African artists. But, hey, y’all will get there when you do.
“Aboki crooner Ice Prince returns with a smashing new video for his latest single, I SWEAR featuring Bad Boy Entertainment’s French Montana. The video was shot on location in the US by J R Saint who has shot videos for the likes of Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Game and so many others.
